Jully Black on Radio 2 Drive

The RnB goddess will be on CBC’s Radio 2 Drive on December 10th, 2009, 3:30 pm. Lighting details below the picture.

She was an absolute darling in the studio, and simultaneously gave off an air of total command while still being utterly approachable and sweet. Camera settings were 1/160 shutter, F/4.5 on ISO 800. I had two lights setup for this shot (both were SB600s), one on a stand that is readily apparent and casting the rim highlights on her face (as well as a sweet flare, something I actually like about the Tamron F/2.8 I use). The other is bouncing of the wall that she is facing, maybe 30 feet away. It was probably on half power and the light would be softened by the greyish wall it was hitting. I like to alternate between hard and soft light in these shoots, depending on the performer.
