Think I had two SB600s firing directely at Megs. Bit windy for a shoot-through (and way too bright for small flashes). Love that park area.

Got a call, “We need a shot of Phil, he’s only here for another five minutes.” Four minutes later I was on the fourth floor of the CBC improvising a two-light shoot against a grey background near the CBC News area. One SB600 was going off the ceiling, another was bouncing off the wall behind me (both surfaces were white) and they were both triggered with Nikon CLS. Enlarge the pic to see the catch lights.

Zeus in studio

The band recorded a few tracks for an upcoming show on Drive. Two off-camera SB 600s plus a touch of on-camera fill. F/7.1 at 1/160, ISO 640. A somewhat standard cross-light setup here, and relatively easy to discern where the lights were thanks to the shadows and the bit of flash peeking out under his hand.

Went with a hard light set up for Basia. Studio 211 really lends itself to soft and hard lighting style, though, when the artist arrive 30 minutes early you find that you have to work a bit quicker so hard lighting it will often be at that point.

Moving between the trees

Stay in one place long enough, wondering if you can the picture that looked so interesting in your mind actually be interesting, and something interesting might walk in front of you.

Two exposures at 1/8 of a second and iso 2000, overlaid in photoshop and then brushed together using a layer mask. Nothing fancy.
